Easter 2013

Today was Cruz's First Easter!!  We headed over to one of the green, grassy areas by our house to take some pictures.  He was not in the happiest mood, but we got a few smiles.  

I tried to edit out the big drool rash on his chin.  So, you will see it in some pictures.  We just can't seem to get rid of it no matter how hard we try.  Just when we think it is getting better, it comes back with a vengeance!  

For dinner, I made Ham, Cheesy Potatoes, Corn Casserole, and Deviled Eggs.  Yum!

Last Day with His DOC Band!

Today was the last day for his DOC Band.  It has been a very busy 3 and a half months with many adjustment appointments and countless baths.  Here are some pictures of the last and final day!

Note the yellow bandage.  Cruz had to get his blood drawn to check his iron levels checked-routine at this age.  I had to squeeze him in my arms so he would not move; it was so sad.

Love for Puppy

Cruz sure loves his puppy!  While Bridgette loves Cruz too, she was definitely more preoccupied with the food that was on its way!  Notice how she is standing half on the couch, half on the sofa table.  This occurs sometimes multiple times a day. 

Avocado Fun!

While I was making baby food this afternoon, Cruz hung out with me in the kitchen.  He ate a yummy lunch of cheese, apples, and avocado .  He is becoming a pro at picking things up.  I had to keep stopping and taking pictures because he looked so funny!

Standing On His Own

Today, I finally snapped some pictures of him standing on his own.  He started doing it on February 23rd, but it has been so hard to get a picture of him actually doing it.  He is so much sturdier now and can do it for longer periods of time.  Walking is probably in the near future....AHHHHHHHHH!!!  I don't think we are ready for that!

 

Our Little Leprechaun

We got a few photos this afternoon of Cruz and his Leprechaun Hat.  He surprisingly did not mind having it on because he is so used to having the DOC Band on his head.  

This year, I made Corned Beef in the Crock Pot.  While the veggies were tasteless, the meat was delicious!  I cannot get over the 10 hours it cooked in the Crock Pot, but it was worth the wait.

Fruit Feeder

We tried out his new fruit feeder with some frozen cantaloupe.  He seemed to like it!  I am sure it felt great on his gums as he now has the two middle front teeth coming in.

First Ride in the Swing!

This evening, we took Cruz to the playground by our house to try out the swing.  It was so fun seeing his reaction.  He seemed to like it at first, but by the end, he was ready to get out.  We are excited to go back again!

I bought this tub and sponges the other night at the Dollar Tree, and as expected, it was a hit.  We had a nice time outside playing in the water.  Cruz LOVES water.

Last DOC Band Appointment

This morning, Cruz had his last DOC Band Appointment.  It was very exciting.  They took final measurements of his head, and we got to see the "before" and "after" pictures.  The changes were apparent on the screen looking side by side.  I can't believe he has worn this for only three and a half months.  It was so quick.  They did a final adjustment for the helmet, and he has to wear it for two more weeks.  So, on Good Friday, it comes off for good!  

We celebrated afterward with breakfast at The Original Pancake House in Scottsdale.  It was a great morning.  Before we left the appointment, we got a few pictures with his therapist, Theresa.  She was with us throughout the whole process and was really nice.

Keeping Busy

There are only a few more days left of Spring Break.  It has been a nice week off.  Today is Ben and mine's Wedding Anniversary.  It has been four years!  We met Ben for lunch and then picked up things for Ben's favorite, Salisbury Steak, and had a nice dinner in.  We are going to get to work on getting a babysitter a few weeks from now so we can go out on a date--just the two of us!   

Here are some pictures from this morning.  Cruz just LOVES this piano.  He kept pushing the dog's nose to make it play music, and he would sway back and forth(dancing).  It was just precious!
