This has been quite a week! I think I caught what Cruz has, but 16 times worse. I stayed home Monday because I started feeling crummy on Friday. I went to the doctor because I was convinced I had strep throat. The Strep Test was negative..and the doctor said, "it must be something viral," and sent me on my merry way without any medicine. I was given a Doctor's Note saying I would return to work on Thursday, but I woke up yesterday with Pink Eye! My eyes were crusted shut, and they looked horribly pink.
Ben stayed home with me to help with the baby because I was unable to take care of him. He would have gone to daycare where I had taken him all week, but his eyes were getting these giant green boogers, and we wanted to see if we could get him an appointment. Ben took Cruz to the doctor, just to find out that the yummy, friendly, pink antibiotics were not strong enough, and he now had double ear infections. While they were gone, I went to the doctor for the second time and finally got some medicine for a sinus infection and pink eye. She said the pink eye came from just being so sick.
Ben stayed home today too, and took Cruz to his helmet appointment to get his measurements. He will be getting his helmet on Monday, December 10th. We even found out that our insurance is going to cover it! We are so lucky! I don't know what I would have done without Ben through all of this illness. I only hope he does not catch what we have! I just can't get over the fact I have been out of work for an ENTIRE WEEK! Teachers are never out sick for an entire week!

Thanksgiving 2012
Dinner was easy this year, and seemed effortless as I made a few things yesterday. Ben did the dishes, and Brent peeled potatoes. I even made the appropriate amount of food! Not too much, and not to little leftover. Cruz even tried peas this evening, and LOVED THEM! He has not reacted like this to the rice cereal or sweet potatoes. It was so exciting!
The guys watched football all day long, and I had a blast snapping pictures, updating the blog, and posting on Facebook. Here are some photos from the day!

Freaky Baby
As I was updating the blog this morning, Cruz was just waking up from his nap. It looks like he figured out there was a camera in there. I am hoping it was just a coincidence..but he sure looks like he could be in the Paranormal Activity Movie!

Hanging with Mr. Sick
Cruz was very clingy today. You could tell he did not feel well. He would play, but he wanted you to be right there for everything. Even when I was right behind him, he kept turning around to check to see if I was still there. It was hard to get anything done with Thanksgiving looming. Every time I turned around he had snot dripping or bubbling out of his nose and drool streaming down his chin. Poor thing! He now hates when he sees a tissue or wipe coming toward his face! I wouldn't trade the day home with him for the world though. I love him!

Cruz is now 6 months. We have had him a whole half of a year! Crazy!
This poor boy is super duper sick. It started out with the sniffles on Friday, and by Sunday there was green snot dripping out of his nose. I called in that afternoon to work, and spent Monday with him. I did not want to get the other kids at COOP sick before the holiday. That night, I was trying to show Ben how to use the aerosol saline drops, when I accidentally squirted him in the eye because he was thrashing around so much. He cried for an hour straight inconsolably, and was only calmed by looking at himself in the bathroom mirror.
Ben stayed home with him Tuesday, and ended up taking him to the doctor because his eye was red and looked swollen(I felt so awful!). They gave him eye drops if it did not clear up, and said it was actually the tear ducts and had nothing to do with the drops(I think they were just being nice). They checked his ears and one was red. They gave him a prescription, and said if he developed a fever to fill it because it was an ear infection. Lo and behold, that night he had a fever of 102.2! After a call to the Triage Nurses at the pediatrician, we filled the prescription, gave him ibuprofen, and 3 hours later the fever was gone. We were very lucky. This was his first fever, and it sure was scary.
The best part of it all was we were reassured that we did the right thing in switching pediatricians. The office staff has been wonderful, and the Triage Nurses have been great! We actually ended up talking the same nurse, Kathy, Tuesday morning, Tuesday after hours(she is working to put 2 kids through college), and even this morning when I called with a few more questions. She was AMAZING!
I am hoping just a few more days and he will be ready to go back to COOP. Thank goodness for Thanksgiving this week! We are so happy to have been able to be at home with him!

Mom's Birthday
I turned 30 this year on the 14th. It actually was a crappy day that started with sitting in training all day and crying to friend my the way home from being overwhelmed. It ended with flowers, cards, and dinner out at BJ's Brewhouse. Cruz was an angel at dinner and slept through all but 30 seconds when he fussed, but then went right back to sleep.
My friends, Cori and Jessica took me out to dinner the weekend after to Kabuki, a wonderful sushi restaurant(complete with the scariest birthday song ever!). We even visited the new Coach Outlet, and I got a new purse and matching wallet. I can't believe I am 30 now, but I am so happy to be where I am in my life today!

Bumbo Recall
A few months ago, the Bumbo Seat had a recall because kids were falling out of them. I said to myself, "It must be those stupid parents not watching their kids," and I saw no reason in ordering the free seat belt. I had no idea how a baby could maneuver itself out of the seat. We thought we were being safe by setting the Bumbo on the floor and making sure we sat with him. Boy, were we wrong. This picture shows exactly what I thought could never happen. This was then followed by him shimmying all the way out and onto the floor. I had Ben order the seat belt the same day, and it arrived in less than a week. Next time we may check into a recall a bit sooner!

Dad's Birthday
Today is Ben's 31st Birthday, and his first as a dad. Cruz sure was excited about dad's card. He helped sign it, and then I let him "read" it to make sure his name looked the way he wanted it. It was so funny watching him "read" the card. When I showed Ben the pictures he said, "You weren't worried he was going to rip it?" I said, "Nope! It is his first birthday card for his dad. I would expect it to be bent or ripped." Needless to say, it was not ripped, and made it into the envelope drool-free. Here are some photos from this evening.
When dad got home from work, they had some cuddle time. Note the red eyes on the baby. He still is waking up in the middle of the night. Sometimes he is easily comforted, sometimes not and he just screams(it's gotta be the teeth). To boot, he is getting the sniffles. He has not been sleeping well at Daycare either. Therefore, when we get home, we only have a small window of time to spend with him as he is in bed quite quickly. I hope this stage passes quickly, and this baby starts sleeping better!

Trying Out My New Chair
Cruz is almost 6 months, and we will be starting solids sometime in the next week or so. So, I decided it was time to try out the new high chair seat, and he did wonderfully! He loved it! The high chair straps to our dining chair, and it is the perfect height. I spread out all of his toys, and he had a blast gnawing away. He is now cutting his second tooth. Another bottom, middle tooth. He is loving his frozen teethers, and we have been using all of thirty-something bibs we own between loads of baby laundry. Between the spit-up and the drool, we are getting our money's worth on those bibs!

Dreaming
I just had to snap a picture. We had just gotten home from dinner at Red Robin, and this boy sure was deep in Dreamland! What I wouldn't give to know what he was dreaming about!
