Moving Man in the Crib!

Cruz is moving around so much in his crib, it is unbelievable!  We will place him in the crib, and in the middle of the night he will fuss and be in a completely different spot.  How does he do it?  I think he fusses because his head is hitting the crib railing!  The pictures below are a bit of a reenactment; you get the idea.  Note that Cruz is not swaddled in the picture!  He now likes his Sleep Sack just fine!

Cradle Cap Man

At Cruz's 2 month appointment, I talked to the Pediatrician about his dry scalp, and she said it was in fact Cradle Cap.  She said it was a mild case, and that we could either just let it run it's course, or we could try treating it with good old fashioned Selsun Blue.  She said to wet his hair, apply the shampoo, and leave it on for an hour!  So, we gave it a go!  At first, he was so mad!  I put the hat on so I could set him down without the shampoo getting on everything, but he was not having it.  So, I took it off, and he was much happier.  I have to say I have seen a difference in the amount of flakes, and hope a few more treatments will do the trick!

He was not digging the hat!

More relaxed without the hat...

As of last Wednesday, Cruz is now 2 months old!  Where did the time go?  I can't believe it.  It sure has been a wonderful summer being at home with this special little guy.  Even the changes that have happened just in the past month have amazed me!  He got his first round of vaccinations last Monday and was a trooper.  The doctor gave him a clean bill of health and is proud of his development.  He now weighs 12 pounds, 5 ounces!!  He is also 24 inches long.  He sure is growing!

First Road Trip

Well, the Arizona heat has prevented us from being outside much this summer, so Ben looked up a Driving Tour to get us out of the house.  So yesterday, we set out for the Apache Trail.  We stopped in Apache Junction, got a burger from In and Out, fed the baby, and we were on our way!  The sky was looming, and it did rain a little bit, but it cooled everything off and made the trip very enjoyable.  We were able to get out at the various lookout points and snap some photos.  We can't wait until Cruz is older and we can take him swimming at Canyon Lake!  It was a great day!

Nana's First Visit!

Nana came to visit this past week to meet her first great-grandson, Cruz.  We loved having her here in town.  Although we did not make it out of the house too much, Cruz got lots of cuddles, kisses, and walks up and down the length of the house.  He was one happy boy in Nana's arms.

While Cruz napped one evening, we even got Nana outside and taught her how to play Cornhole.  Ben and I were convinced she was hustling us.  She was amazing!

Even though she had to go home today, she will be back in October.  We can't wait!

First Family Photo

After a second date night out for Ben and I, Nana snapped what we realized was our first family photo.  Cruz is all cozy in his pajamas, and Bridgette is smiling her best.  Here's to many more!

We Have a Thumb-Sucker on Our Hands!

Well, it is official: Cruz is a thumb-sucker.  Before this week, we thought it was just a coincidence, but nope...he is a pro.  He does not do it all the time, just when he is sleepy or hungry.  We had tried and failed with the pacifier.  It was a love/hate relationship.  He had the hardest time keeping it in, and we were constantly popping it back into his mouth.  Now, he maneuvers that thumb into his mouth so fast, you wouldn't even believe it!  We hope that he does not take the habit to kindergarten...but for now, he sure looks cute doing it!

Cruz and His Painting

Cruz's favorite pastime is looking at the painting above our couch.  He noticed it a few weeks ago, and cannot take his eyes off of it.  It has provided him with hours of enjoyment and lots of smiles!  He talks to it, concentrates on it really hard, and many times tries to reach out for it!

I even took a picture of the painting, blew it up, and hung it in his crib!

Tummy Time Trials

Tummy Time is something that Cruz is not a big fan of.  He only lasts about 4 minutes at a time.  We have tried everything.  We have tried on the floor, propped up on a rolled-up blanket, putting him on our chests, and propped up on the Boppy.  He usually starts out ok, but then gets really mad.  The first 3 pictures are typical.  This particular day, I kind of just left him alone to fuss to see what he would do.  When he thought I was not around, he stopped crying and calmed down and looked around.  It was so funny!  He didn't even notice me taking the last picture.  I love this kid!

Post Bath!

Cruz is loving bath time more and more!  This morning, he was crying and fussy, but the minute he was in his tub, he was very happy.  Today after his bath, I snapped a couple photos.  He just cracks me up!  He looks like a little man with his adorable robe from Aunt Melanie!  Note he is doing his famous pose in most of the photos!

My Kick and Play Mat

We bought this play mat on Craigslist per Aunt Jessie's suggestion.  Elijah, Cruz's cousin, just loves this!  The first few attempts were a bust, but now he loves playing and kicking every day!  He is also infatuated with the mirror attached and will just stare at himself!  Here are just a few of the pictures!  He is the cutest thing ever!

Mia and Papa Visit!

Ben and I were so lucky to have my parents in town for the Fourth of July holiday.  It was so great having extra hands to hold, feed, and play with the baby.  Mia and I went shopping, and she bought Cruz a whole new wardrobe.  He is now wearing size 6 month clothes!  Papa enjoyed spending time with Cruz and loved playing "Airplane."  Ben and I were even able to go out on our first date post-baby!  It was so exciting spending time with each other.  We only made it out to dinner though as we were exhausted.  We had to snap a picture before we left, and of course Rick had to do the "Creepy Man in the Background" picture for old time sake.  The visit flew by, and we were so sad to see them go!

Patriotic Boy

Well, we could not let Cruz's first Fourth of July pass without commemorating the day!  While taking his picture, he was not very interested in the flag, but actually took a hold of it!  It was so funny!  He had no idea what he was doing.  When I showed Ben the pictures, he was concerned that Cruz could have poked his eye out with the flag.  Leave it to Ben to think that; it never crossed my mind.  On the Fourth of July, Mia and Papa were in town.  We enjoyed an early lunch at Red Lobster.  Ben and Mia took turns holding Cruz as he was a little fussy.  His favorite spot was next to the Lobster Tank.  He just loved the sound of the running water!
